Harris Kocher Smith was tasked with providing surveying services to David Evans and Associates for the design of the West Corridor Project for RTD.This is a 12.1 mile long transit project that is designed to operate mainly along the former Associated Railroad right-of-way near 13th Avenue from downtown Denver to the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden.

HKS was responsible for mapping portions of the alignment for design of the facilities. The surveying extents have included 200 yards north and south of 6th Avenue from Indiana Street to South Union Boulevard. A portion of 6th Avenue was also surveyed for proposed crossings of the roadway by the light rail. At the Cold Springs Park-n-Ride, survey was completed for the entire station as well as South Union Blvd south of 6th avenue for design of a light rail tie-in to that station.

HKS had one full time crew for eight months on this project and also utilized a second crew when additional survey was needed quickly. Surface features, utility locates and a topographic base were supplied as well as other items as required by David Evans and Associates.
